Dr. Simon Musäus is an internationally recognized geospatial industry leader, author, and keynote speaker who has spent more than three decades shaping how governments, businesses, and societies understand and leverage location-based intelligence. With a career spanning Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa, and Asia, Simon brings a rare global perspective to the intersection of geospatial data, business strategy, innovation, and public–private collaboration.
Simon is the author of It Is Your Game – A Business Strategy Playbook for SMEs, a candid and practical guide for entrepreneurs and executives navigating competitive markets. As Principal and Lead Consultant at SWM Advisory, he advises geospatial, technology, and infrastructure organizations on growth strategy, operational transformation, go-to-market acceleration, and leadership development. He is also a sought-after executive coach, helping leaders align culture, purpose, and performance.
Before launching his advisory practice, Simon served as Vice President of Global Business Development for Hexagon's Geospatial Content Solutions division, where he helped design and expand major 3D and aerial imaging initiatives across Europe, Africa, and the Americas.
Earlier, he led large international mapping, engineering, and photogrammetry operations—including multi-country technical, commercial, and organizational turnarounds.
Widely known for his coalition-building leadership, Simon is the founder and former president of the European Association of Aerial Surveying Industries (EAASI) and continues to serve on its board. He has represented industry interests in global policy forums—including the United Nations and the World Geospatial Industry Council—and has helped advance geospatial knowledge infrastructure and public–private innovation models worldwide.
